The eligibility criteria for the CET exam is that those applying must have completed their 10+2 with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology). They must also have studied English as a language. Also the candidate should net be younge or older than 17 to 25 years of age.

Follow up:

For those sitting for Medical/Dental courses, the aggregate of their marks must be 50% or above in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students belonging to the SC/ST/OBC must have an aggregate of 40%.

Students appearing for the the Engineering courses must have studies Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and scored an aggregate of 45% or higher. For SC/ST/OBC the aggregate must be 40% or higher

If the candidate is going to appear in the 10+2 exams in 2010 then the student may also apply for the CET 2010 exam. The government also provides seats to students at reduced fees provided the candidate fulfils certain conditions. Some of these conditions are:

The candidate must have studied in a government recognised institution in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 (seven) years.

The candidate should have finished his/her PU or equivalent examination from a government recognised institute and one of his/her parents should have studied in a Karnataka government recognised institute for a minimum of 7 years.

The candidate and at least one of his/her parents' mother tongue should be Kanada, Tulu or Kodava and the student should have passed a qualifying exam in the same from a recognised university.

In the case of a Defence personnel, the candidates parent should have worked in Karnataka for a minimum of 1 (one) year and the candidate should have passed qualifying exams from a government recognised institute in karnataka. In case the person is an ex-serviceman then he or she must have provided a place in karnataka as their home town.

The above case will also apply to the children of the employees of the Union Government or the karnataka State Government.
