The debate is finally over and the outcome is a mixed one. For a long time now, the government has been involved in a struggle to merge CET and COMED-K exams in Karnataka. The issue has finally been laid to rest, for now, with the decision to continue with CET and COMED-K being agreed upon.

The outcome of the
discussions held can only be met with mixed views. While it was decided that the fee for the General Merit students will be hiked by Rs 5,000, bringing it to a total of Rs 30,000 per year, it was also decided that the fee for the poor meritorious category still remains at Rs 15,000 per year. The share in seats also remains the same where the government and private colleges share the seats on a 50:50 basis. Contrary to this, the seat sharing for minority institutions has been fixed at 45% for the government and 55% for the private management colleges.
Other key decisions made at the same meeting were:- The two exams will still be held separately
- Fees for general merit candidates and other quotes has been hiked to Rs 30,000 per year
- Fees for poor meritorious candidates remains the same Rs 15,000 per year
- Fees for poor meritorious students seeking lateral entry will be Rs 15,000 per year
- Fees for other candidates seeking lateral entry will be Rs 25,000 per year
