Students have to gear up to shell out Rs 100 more than last year for Karnataka CET 2010. Last year the fee for General category was Rs 550 and that for backward classes was Rs 400. This year the prices have been raised to Rs 650 for General category students and Rs 500 for Scheduled Cast, Scheduled Tribes and Category - 1 students.
Follow up:
As an explaination to this hike in the price Karnataka Examinations Authority claimed it had hiked the fee to cover up for the extra expenses that they have encured since the launch of their new initiative to provide free CET coaching to students from rural areas. This service is meant to target students who can not afford coaching classes and give them the same advantages as regular students. As an adition to this service, KEA has also introduced a new section in the exam form where students are required to indicate if they have recieved coaching from these rural coaching initiatives. If students respond in the positive then their CET performance will be tracked to determine if the initiative has a positive impact or not.
