After nearly a month of talks and discussions, the state government has finally announced the seat matrix and fee structures for the medical and dental, PG and UG, courses beginning in 2010. While the seat matrix has been left unchanged the fee structure has seen some change.

In an address delivered by the minister for medical education, Mr. Ramachandra Gowda, it was declared that the seat sharing percentage of 42:58 will be the same as last year. This means that the government has 42% medical seats while the remaining 58% seats belong to private institutes. The media was also informed that the governments share of seats is 1,872 seats, while the management quota has 2,033 seats and the number of All-India medical seats quota is 164. He also said that the government has requested deemed universities to share some seats so that they can increase the government quota by 100 seats. The intention is to implement these 100 seats this year itself however there might be a possibility of implementation being pushed to 2011.
The seat sharing for Dental seats has been set at 35:65 which means that the government has 35% dental seats while the remaining 58% seats belong to private institutes. The ratio for dental seats in minority colleges has been set to 25:75, which translates into the government getting only 25% of the seats while the remaining 75% seats are reserved for minority institutes. The total number of seats meant for the government is 793 while 1551 seats have been reserved for the management quota and 16 seats for the All-India quota.

For post graduate students the seat matrix for medical and dental seats in private institutes stands at 33:67 (33% for government quota and 67% for management quota) and 20:80 in minority institutes (20% for government quota and 80% for management quota).
