As the exam months drag on, students are coming under more and more pressue. The results of this stress are situations like:

Inability to retain information
Inability to concentrate of studies
Panic attacks about poor performance or missing the exams
Inability to understand questions in the exam hall

Almost every student complains about the stress caused by the pressure put on them because of exams and studies. This stress has led to a variety of problem, including students ending their lives over low grades, because of which the authorities are finally convinced to take steps to help students deal with the stress. Early in March the Karnataka PUC board assembled a panel of experts to answer question that students would call in with. The main focus was on the psychological issues that students face as a result of the pressure of studies. On a cool rainy evening we had a chance to catch up with Kishor S V. A student from Sathya Sai Lokaseva Pre-University College in Alike he secured the 35th rank in Engineering and the 48th rank in Medical in CET 2009. The son of Mr S M Vasanna, the Deputy Director of Boilers for the Government of Karnataka, and Mrs Shobha B M, a home-maker, Kishor hails from the town of Davengere in central Karnataka. He also has a younger brother who is currently in the 7th class in a school in Davangere.

We were fortunate enough to get few minutes with one such student, Karan N Ramakrishna who got the 4th rank in CET medical 2009 . A very down to earth person, Karan, came across as a very confident and jovial young man who believed in always being optimistic and was kind enough to share his experience with all of us.

As he is on his way home, his phone starts ringing. Call after call comes in and everyone is calling him for the same reason. With each call his ecstasy grows making him feel proud of himself. When he gets home, there is a lot of back patting and congratulating going on. He is the star of the show and to show their appreciation his parent gift him a computer! So what was it that Naveen Bhat Y did that made so many call him at once and offer him their congratulations?
